Founder's Bio

Lumen Funds is founded by Steve Yu, CFA.  Before founding Lumen Funds, Steve was a Portfolio Manager at The Tarbox Group, a Worth Magazine Top 250 wealth manager located in Newport Beach, California.  While working at The Tarbox Group, Steve and two other team members managed investment portfolios for high-net worth individuals and families.  The total value of the portfolios was approximately $250 million.  Currently, Steve also serves as Senior Portfolio Manager for a family office.  From 1997 through 2009, portfolios managed solely by Steve returned an average of 12.3% vs. 3.0% for the S&P 500.  The volatility of these portfolios was below the S&P500 volatility.  The portfolios are long-only and do not use any leverage.
