The Lumen Difference

We seek and tell the truth - Lumen, or light, shows us the truth.  At Lumen, we strive to be as objective as possible so that we may see things as they are.  When we see smooth sailing, we happily welcome it.  When we see turbulence ahead, we call it so, and we also act proactively to protect your portfolios.

We love to invest -  At Lumen, we are passionate about investing.  We are not in this business solely for financial benefits.  We are in it because we love what we do.

Lack of conflict – We are paid only by our clients.  We do not receive compensation from brokers, mutual fund companies, or any other entities we work with.  When we recommend a broker, it is because we believe the broker provides good value to our clients.  When we invest clients’ money in a mutual fund, it is because we believe it is the right investment.

Independence – We are independently operated.  We do not have a corporate parent to direct and restrict our investment decisions.  As a result, we are able to invest in products offered by many competing companies, and we can choose those that are best in their class.

Flexibility - Market fluctuates.  It provides opportunities in stocks sometimes, real estate other times, and bonds yet some other times.  At Lumen, we are neither partial to nor limited to any particular asset class.  We have exprience in stocks, fixed-income securities, commodities, real estate, and currencies; and we simply go wherever the long-term risk-adjusted performance is favorable.

Low cost - A typical hedge fund charges a management fee of 2% plus a performance fee of 20% of the fund's gain.  While we outperform many hedge funds, our fees are only between 0.5% and 2%.

Long-term performance – We have been investing successfully for over 10 years before founding Lumen Funds.  We pride ourselves in our conservative approach; and our portfolios have outperformed our benchmark.

Integrity – We think long-term.  We believe that when our clients do well, we do well.  We treat our clients with honesty.
